Chillin & Grillin Week
Spring 2025

Objective:
Plan and execute a comprehensive, week-long series of student engagement events at PennWest Clarion during the final week of the Spring 2025 semester. The initiative culminated in a large-scale campus celebration featuring vendors, live music, food service, and activities designed to foster community among students and their families.
Process:
Planning for Chillin & Grillin began early in the semester through a strategic collaboration between the University Activities Board (UAB) and the House of Representatives—a student body I founded to enhance representation and involvement across campus. I initiated planning meetings with UAB advisor Brian Hoover to define goals, logistics, and responsibilities. I coordinated with numerous student organizations to host events throughout the week, engaged local and regional vendors for the culminating Saturday picnic, and worked directly with musicians, food service providers, and campus departments to ensure a seamless experience. Task delegation and collaboration with peers, staff, and faculty were essential to managing the scope and success of the event.
Outcome:
Chillin & Grillin Week was highly successful, with strong student engagement across multiple events and hundreds of attendees at the final Saturday picnic. Feedback from participants and staff was overwhelmingly positive. Through this experience, I strengthened my skills in project management, event planning, and cross-departmental collaboration. I also gained valuable insight into the importance of strategic delegation and inclusive leadership in executing campus-wide initiatives.

CampusFest
Spring 2025

Objective:
Revive the annual CampusFest concert tradition at PennWest Clarion, which had been paused due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The goal was to reintroduce a large-scale musical event that promotes student engagement and school spirit.
Process:
Planning began in late Fall 2024 with the formation of the CampusFest Committee, which included student leaders and staff members such as Megan Boozer and Brian Hoover. The committee met weekly to plan all aspects of the event, including artist selection, concert logistics, marketing, and audience engagement. I was specifically responsible for coordinating event security and was also involved in hospitality planning during the early stages. On the day of the concert, I worked directly with campus security and student volunteers to oversee safety operations and provide a welcoming environment for attendees and performers.
Outcome:
The Spring 2025 CampusFest featured DJ Spillz as the opening act and Kyle as the headliner. While the turnout was lower than anticipated, the event was executed smoothly, and attendees responded enthusiastically to the performances. The experience offered valuable insight into event planning, risk management, and audience engagement. Key takeaways included the importance of early promotion and aligning artist selection more closely with student preferences to boost future attendance.
