Communication & Journalism Practicum Overview

During the Spring 2025 semester, I completed a student affairs internship as part of my Communications & Journalism Practicum at PennWest University, with most of my work taking place on the Clarion campus. This experience allowed me to collaborate closely with a range of student affairs professionals across multiple departments, gaining valuable insight into the inner workings of higher education administration.

Over the course of 15 weeks, I engaged in both short-term and semester-long projects assigned by faculty and staff members in various roles. These tasks provided a comprehensive view of student support services, event planning, communication strategies, and the collaborative nature of student affairs. I particularly appreciated the opportunity to learn through hands-on involvement and direct mentorship from experienced professionals in the field.

This internship solidified my passion for higher education and confirmed my interest in pursuing a career within student affairs. The skills and knowledge I gained through this practicum have not only enhanced my academic experience but also prepared me to contribute meaningfully to future roles in college and university settings.
